Located in the heart of Central Asia between the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers, it borders five countries and covers 447,800 km2, with a sharply continental climate.
Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva are renowned as pearls of the East, and the country holds more than four thousand historical monuments.
