Shakhrisabz

Shakhrisabz is a town south of Samarkand and the birthplace of Amir Timur. The Ak-Saray palace survives as portals almost forty metres high; next to it stand the Dorut Tilavat and Dorus Saodat complexes with the tomb of the Timurid family.

An hour and a half by car from Samarkand over the Takhtakaracha pass.
