NURATA
About the city
Nurata is a small town on the edge of the Kyzylkum desert between Samarkand and Bukhara. It has the ruins of a fortress attributed to Alexander the Great and the sacred Chashma spring with its trout; an hour away are Lake Aydarkul and the yurt camps.
Nurata is usually a one-day stop on the way from Samarkand to Bukhara.
